PESHAWAR: In protest of the latest round of Israeli aggression against the Palestinians, Jamat-i-Islami members held a rally outside the US Consulate General here on Friday. Abdul Wasay, the emir of JI Central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Bahrullah Khan Advocate, the district emir, led the demonstration, which began at Jamia Masjid Darwesh and ended at the US Consulate General. Speakers at the event denounced Israel’s violence against Palestinians and claimed that for the past 1.5 years, Tel Aviv has been engaged in a genocidal campaign, with the US acting as a mute observer. They claimed that the Israeli bombing killed over 60,000 people, including 17,000 women and 12,000 children, and injured over 100,000 more. They claimed that although Israel and Hamas had established a deal for the exchange of prisoners, Israel had resumed bombing Palestine in Ramadan, killing nearly 400 people. If Israel would not halt the crime against humanity, they threatened to stage a protest at the US embassy in Islamabad. At the request of party leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman in Timergara, JI workers staged a protest in Lower Dir against Israel for killing Palestinians in large numbers and breaking the peace accord. Additionally, the demonstrators charged that the United States was equally involved in what they called the genocide of unarmed Palestinians.
